AI agents: Agentic AI holds the promise of redefining workflows across the enterprise. But if youre looking to deploy larger-scale systems (such as AI agents), youre going to need architecture that is much more robust. Working autonomously, they are able to process data, move across workflows and take action on humans behalf.
7 With the vast majority (estimated around 85%) of Internet traffic encrypted, there is exponential growth in security risks posed by encrypted channels that can hide harmful content such as viruses, spyware, and other malware challenging security teams to secure an increasingly distributed enterprise and avoid costly repercussions.

Solarflare, a global leader in networking solutions for modern data centers, is releasing an Open Compute Platform (OCP) software-defined, networking interface card, offering the industry’s most scalable, lowest latency networking solution to meet the dynamic needs of the enterprise environment.
In the private sector, IT can set up a self-provisioning environment that lets development teams move at the required speed without ceding control of enterprise resource management – things such as compute, storage, and random access memory (RAM). Additionally, how one would deploy their application into these environments can vary greatly.

This architectural flaw allows attackers to easily map backend IP addresses and exploit them, often bypassing security layers entirely. While mTLS offers the most secure option, it requires custom tooling and is not yet supported by all loadbalancers. Failure to do so may lead to the discovered bypass.
Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) is an architecture that consolidates connectivity and security into a single cloud platform. It’s not an easy one for many of our customers to navigate,” Richard Fitch, Connectivity Practice Lead at Spark, said.
A specific angle I want to address here is that of infrastructure automation ; that is, the dynamic manipulation of physical resources (virtualized or not) such as I/O, networking, loadbalancing, and storage connections - Sometimes referred to as "Infrastructure 2.0". a Fabric), and network switches, loadbalancers, etc.
Both are implicitly or explicitly taking aim at each other as they chase the enterprise data center market. However, in the software domain, each still relies on multiple individual products to accomplish tasks such as SW provisioning, HA/availability, VM management, loadbalancing, etc. Enterprise Efficiency. Downstream.
According to Martin, the term SDN originally referred to a change in the network architecture to include a) decoupling the distribution model of the control plane from the data plane; and b) generalized rather than fixed function forwarding hardware. What about virtualized loadbalancers? What about NX-OS, JUNOS, or EOS?
The next step is to define in software the converged network, its switching, and even network devices such as loadbalancers. Provisioning of the network, VLANs, IP loadbalancing, etc. Gartner and others agree - this is the next wave in data center architecture. Enterprise Efficiency. Enterprise Efficiency.
Once again this comes back to Intel’s rack-scale architecture work.) A traditional SRF architecture can be replicated with COTS hardware using multi-queue NICs and multi-core/multi-socket CPUs. Workloads are scheduled across these server/linecards using Valiant LoadBalancing (VLB).
Recep talks about how the predominant architecture for network virtualization involves the use of overlay networks created and managed at the edge by virtual switches in the hypervisors. Some of these services naturally should run on the top-of-rack (ToR) switch, like loadbalancing or security services. So how does this work?
The instantiation of these observations was a product that put almost all of the datacenter on "autopilot" -- Servers, VMs, switches, load-balancers, even server power controllers and power strips. Does it sound like Amazons recent CloudWatch, Auto-Scaling and Elastic LoadBalancing announcement? Enterprise Efficiency.
The project also gained a huge active user and open-source community, along with the support of global enterprises, IT market leaders, and big cloud providers. You cannot possibly deny that Kubernetes is built on a very mature and proven architecture. Traffic routing and loadbalancing. Great heritage.
Converged Infrastructure and Unified Computing are both terms referring to technology where the complete server profile, including I/O (NICs, HBAs, KVM), networking (VLANs, IP loadbalancing, etc.), From an architectural perspective, this approach may also be referred to as a compute fabric or Processing Area Network.
I might have mentioned this before, but Ken Pepple’s OpenStack Folsom architecture post is just awesome. If any enterprise Puppet experts want to give it a go, I’d be happy to publish a guest blog post for you with full details on how it’s done. Feel free to share something in the comments! Technology Short Take #27.
Using 1 GbE would have required too many ports, too many cables, and too many switches; 10 GbE offered Expedient a 23% reduction in cables and ports, a 14% reduction in infrastructure costs, and offered a significant bandwidth improvement (compared to the previous 1 GbE architecture). it’s not a great general-purpose solution.
This is an awesome overview of the OpenStack Folsom architecture , courtesy of Ken Pepple. In any case, this article by Frank Denneman on Storage DRS loadbalancing frequency might be useful to you. Visit the site for more information on virtualization, servers, storage, and other enterprise technologies.
David Holder walks through removing unused loadbalancer IP allocations in NSX-T when used with PKS. Although I believe David’s post focuses on Enterprise PKS, it may also apply to NSX-T when integrating with “generic” Kubernetes as well. (I I’m looking forward to seeing how NaaS evolves. Cool stuff.
Add to that a desire for most enterprises to integrate cloud based workloads with legacy on-premises applications, and we have complex hybrid cloud deployments to deal with as the result. N-Tier architectures and micro-services applications must be tuned for performance.
Note that even though fleet helps with scheduling containers across a cluster of systems, fleet doesn’t address some of the other significant challenges that arise from an architecture based on distributed micro-services in containers. However, the basic architecture I’ve shown you here can be extended.
However, these platforms still require decision-making on architecture, logic, and workflow orchestration. Security and compliance Security concerns are now emerging even more frequently as low-code platforms become increasingly popular in enterprise environments.
The current GSA applications look like stovepipes that often implement replicated services using different technologies and solutions (different RDMS solutions, different loadbalancers, duplicate identity/access management solutions). This solution uses tools like Consul, Jenkins, Docker & Docker Swarm, HAProxy, Chef, and AWS.
With a well-planned deployment, and a good infrastructure, companies can efficiently load-balance their IT environment between multiple active, cloud-based, sites. So, if one site should go down – users would transparently be balanced to the next nearest or most available data center. . Featured Cloud Articles.
