So I am going to compare some common tasks between Linux, windows and macos to see if Linux is really that hard to use. I will base these comparisons on a fresh install of the operating system as it comes out of the box so to speak.
The primary hardware comparison the company touts is a 4x speedup over Apple’s M1 Max in a 16-inch MacBook Pro when running TensorFlow. Razer has teased better Linux support over the years, but popular Linux computing news site Phoronix wrote in 2019 that those plans had seemingly been mothballed.
MySQL has long been the traditional database in Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP (LAMP) environments. For developers familiar with MySQL, you've probably heard that MariaDB is the next generation of the database engine. However, MariaDB has gained popularity as an alternative.
Since that time, I’ve been experimenting with ODrive, testing it to see how well it works, if at all, with my Fedora Linux environment. ODrive, if you’re reading this: put some effort into your Linux support and your docs, and you’ll probably get more paying customers.)

Or should I say, I haven’t seen a great operating model for seamlessly managing both Windows and Linux. That proved to be more of apples to oranges comparison, but I think the OS example is a good comparison. Hypervisors should be treated the same as Linux and Windows management. We love to compare things in IT.
I plan on during a full comparison of View and XenDesktop. But, before I do a comparison I thought I’d share what I like and don’t like about XenDesktop. There’s client’s for Blackberry, Windows 8, iOS, Linux and Android just to name a few. I expect to come up to speed with View and do a comparison between the two solutions.
Florian makes the “dreaded Linux-OpenStack comparison,” combining it with models and charts from Moore’s “Crossing the Chasm.” ” Florian posits that a key adoption point is that the underlying platform—be it Linux or OpenStack—must “become irrelevant.”
As part of my Linux migration (see my initial progress report ), late this past week I started setting up my first non-Apple laptop since 2003.
