In todays fast-paced digital landscape, the cloud has emerged as a cornerstone of modern business infrastructure, offering unparalleled scalability, agility, and cost-efficiency. As organizations increasingly migrate to the cloud, however, CIOs face the daunting challenge of navigating a complex and rapidly evolving cloud ecosystem.
This includes acquisition of new software licenses and/or cloud expenses, hardware purchases (compute, storage), early termination costs related to the existing virtual environment, application testing/quality assurance and test equipment, the report reads. Add to all this personnel costs, and the expense might not be worth it.
Effective cost management in the cloud is, therefore, becoming increasingly important. Yet many companies still find it difficult to keep an eye on the costs of their cloud deployment and to continuously optimize them. In this context, more than a quarter expect cloud costs to rise by 20% or more.
But the majority of companies in Germany, in particular, rely on the cloud in its various facets, and have now achieved a certain level of maturity when it comes to migrating workloads. The pressure to modernize IT and business processes has now clearly led to most cloud transformation projects being planned and implemented.
Agents will begin replacing services Software has evolved from big, monolithic systems running on mainframes, to desktop apps, to distributed, service-based architectures, web applications, and mobile apps. Agents can be more loosely coupled than services, making these architectures more flexible, resilient and smart.
It’s no longer a question of whether organizations are moving to the cloud but rather how well it’s going. Cloud isn’t that shiny new object in the distance, full of possibility. Companies may have had highly detailed migration or execution plans, but many failed to develop a point of view on the role of cloud in the enterprise.
“The primary challenges include maintaining a holistic view of security controls, meeting regulatory standards across varied cloud platforms, securing data across multiple providers to prevent unauthorized access or accidental loss, and managing the architectural and operational complexity of utilizing multiple providers,” he explains.
[i] CIOs face mounting pressure to optimize their data strategy, managevendors effectively, and accelerate digital transformation. Identity resolution is central to all three, yet many organizations struggle with fragmented data, vendormanagement, and scalable identity solutions. Forrester Research. McKinsey & Co.
The combination aims to conquer the enormous compute market that has long been dominated by the x86 architecture (and thus, Intel and AMD). NVIDIA just announced it plans to acquire Arm Limited from SoftBank Group for $40B. The x86 platform remains the leader in PCs and data centers, but the future growth prospects lie in […].
Migrating infrastructure and applications to the cloud is never straightforward, and managing ongoing costs can be equally complicated. Refactoring applications to take advantage of cloud-native services is vital to maximizing cloud ROI. We need hard metrics because we’re running 800 instances of cloud computers.
Years into strategies centered on adopting cloud point solutions, CIOs increasingly find themselves facing a bill past due: rationalizing, managing, and integrating an ever-expanding lineup of SaaS offerings — many of which they themselves didn’t bring into the organization’s cloud estate.
Contracts, audits, and SBOMs Beyond protecting enterprise architecture from dangerous updates, and dangerous software in general, there are other steps companies can take to safeguard their software supply chain, starting with selecting the vendor and signing the contract.
For technologists with the right skills and expertise, the demand for talent remains and businesses continue to invest in technical skills such as data analytics, security, and cloud. They’re also charged with assessing a business’ current system architecture, and identifying solutions to improve, change, and modernize it.
A lot of companies that did outsourcing have found themselves in a situation where they have a lot of vendormanagers versus technologists. Understanding price sensitivity, elasticity, and the price pack architecture, is driving new levels of performance. That has been super powerful. This is just the beginning.
There’s a strong need for workers with expertise in helping companies make sense of data, launch cloud strategies, build applications, and improve the overall user experience. Relevant skills for DevOps Engineers include automation, software development, system administration skills, and cloud computing.
Three years ago, Gartner coined the term Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) to describe an architecture that combines software-defined wide-area networks (SD-WANs) with a portfolio of cloud-based security tools —including secure web gateway (SWG) cloud access security brokers (CASB), and zero-trust network access (ZTNA).
In todays era of volatility, technology leaders will need to do more with even less. This means dusting off the cost-cutting playbook to seek out additional optimization opportunities without sacrificing your AI ambitions. Here are a few cost-cutting measures to focus on in the near term.
Technical skills topped the list but also crucial are key leadership and culture capabilities such as change management, strategy building, and business relationship management, as well as critical business skills such as cost, product, and vendormanagement, as shown in the graphic below. And that is the rub.
Cisco Systems stock fell over 11% today after it delivered its latest quarterly earnings yesterday. Cisco beat street estimates, but it fell based on a 9% YoY decrease in revenue and a weak outlook for coming quarters. Our research indicates a coming drought in infrastructure tech spending, so the next few quarters – likely to […].
When assessing vendors, Rich Products looks at their technology, architecture, business value, and pragmatic perspective. We look at the vendor’s maturity and if they have proven success in the right focus areas for our business,” he says. Can I run it in my own virtual cloud?” There’s no clear leader in the market yet.”
AI vendormanagement Only the biggest companies are going to build or manage their own AI models, and even those will rely on vendors to provide most of the AI they use. Data warehouses then evolved into data lakes, and then data fabrics and other enterprise-wide data architectures.
The champions are the CSPs Axiata Enterprise, Dialog, Robi and Smart, which are each providing support for developing the solution architecture. Examples of proposed enterprise use cases include a video analytics or a content distribution platform bundled with 5G network slicing; and white-label SaaS services such as loyalty management.
The exam covers how to build a security program that will meet business needs, as well as how to manage security operations and teams, and security projects for the lifecycle of the program. The framework is specifically focused on enterprise architecture and aligning IT goals with business goals.
Everything-eventually-becomes-a-service which Microsoft demonstrates by launching its own version of managed detection & response. We discuss what CISOs need to know, how it will impact the market, and what to look for next.
For those of us who have been around for a while, it reminds us of when the cloud came and it became popular to make everything cloud-based, and to put old legacy systems in the cloud and see it as modernization.” Artificial Intelligence, CIO, IT Leadership, VendorManagement, Vendors and Providers
This makes sense because the more people using a public cloud service, the higher the utilization rates. Use a big provider to optimize utilization “We are already advanced users of AI, and one of the things we recommend is to use AI, especially inference, through providers that have shared on-demand AI inference environments,” says Elwin.
