After reading some recent articles on his blog I quickly realized I had to read his latest book about Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) titled: " Mashup Corporations. And the most amazing is that I never even mentioned SOA. I was recently introduced to Andy Mulholland by a mutual friend. The End of Business as Usual â€.
When I state that my writings on this blog were about SOA all along, I mean that SOA is probably the best value-adding, customer-facing, tangible web-based implementation (that I know) of a knowledge leveraging strategy. Also, SOA is primarily concerned with online services on the Web but of course, not all transactions are online!
In the course of preparing for the session I looked back at this paper. With the emergence of web services and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), applications are being broken down into smaller components, each of which can interface seamlessly with other components.
In this blog, we’ll be talking about that new addition along with a ton of new course announcements and a special giveaway we’re holding on our YouTube channel. During July, we started creating transcripts for many of our course videos. During August, we are working on adding even more transcripts to our courses!
Service-oriented architecture -- or SOA -- is the fundamental building abstraction for Amazon technologies. Thanks to a thoughtful and far-sighted team of engineers and architects, this approach was applied at Amazon long before SOA became a buzzword in the industry. So when you open your Kindle, its in sync and on the right page.
To learn how to work with them, we suggest taking our course, Database Essentials , which goes into detail on what we cover in this blog, and also guides you through some hands-on labs where you install various databases like MongoDB, Couchbase, and more in real environments. AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate (SOA-C01).
The timidity issue: the "who am I to teach others, of course they know" syndrome Jean @ ILOG At 4:35 PM , Peter-Anthony Glick said. Without aiming at building an exhaustive list of all the great excuses to refrain for sharing knowledge, Id add the following ones: 11. Merci Jean, two good additional syndromes indeed. Ill add them to the list.
At the time I asked my question, I was of course targeting the second group. Of course ROI can include non-financial returns and impacts but people do not have that understanding so I generallly avoid using the term. People need to know how to tell both kinds of stories and know when to tell them.
Modesty resulting from lack of encouragement : the "who am I to teach others, of course they know" syndrome. Perfectionism resulting from fear of being wrong : the "I wont share until Im certain its perfect" syndrome.
Of course, there are ways to alleviate this problem such as including a knowledge-related objective for each manager. When managers’ performance is evaluated solely on annual objectives, they will naturally tend to focus their attention and efforts on these objectives and not be concerned with anyone else’s.
Of course, some strategic methodologies are required as well e.g. value innovation. At 1:07 PM , Peter-Anthony Glick said. Thanks Paolina Yes, Strategic Intelligence makes sense to me to encapsulate BI, Cust I.
Of course, one-on-one sessions with everyone in an organization can be prohibitively expensive and time-consuming. The basic idea is to send Information Professionals (IP) on “the field” to help/teach individuals with one-on-one sessions to be more knowledge efficient and effective.
Of course, internally you need a higher degree of control than on the Web for security and confidentiality, with user access rights to sensitive information. Internally, Organizations will need to quickly realise that many of their collaborators are also “Person of the Year”.
of course its website; its successes and - yes why not – its failures; and lastly but certainly not least, its people). My last input is the realisation that SOA is perfect to facilitate this collaboration btw the front-line and the customers (see my last posts). At 9:58 AM , Peter-Anthony Glick said.
This is already the case in our mostly capitalist economy of course, but it is regulated by each individual’s purchasing power. Another potential flaw of the extreme Gift Economy model is the relative loose definition of an individual’s “needs”. What is seen as non-essential for some will be seen as essential for others.
Modesty resulting from lack of encouragement : the "who am I to teach others, of course they know" syndrome. Perfectionism resulting from fear of being wrong : the "I wont share until Im certain its perfect" syndrome. Top-executives misunderstanding KM challenges : The "this knowledge sharing sounds great! syndrome!!!
Such flexibility of course wouldnt typically suit more an Organization operating in a fast-moving/fast-changing market, but it could be argued that all markets are changing increasingly faster in this flatter World. Employees need to be used to share knowledge across departmental boundaries.
It does not of course follow that all knowledge is represented as information. Of course, simple definitions are misleading because they dont lead readers into thinking about varying shades of interpretation or meaning. I do think a simple statement would help.
Of course, one key medium at the origin of this phenomenon is the World Wide Web. Customers are more knowledgeable about luxury products and services and about our competitor’s products and services. As a direct result, they have also more choice, or more precisely, they are more aware of having a choice.
Of course, this should have a profound impact on management and organizational cultures. Frederik de Klerk who freed Mandela and allowed democratic elections that removed his own party from power underwent a similar transcendent change, but of course most people want to forget him, because he was formerly an apartheid leader.
SOA—or, dare I say, microservices—is the next step on scaling the application. More regions, more availability zones, of course, but we’ll also want to consider constraints on the data tier. Logging, monitoring, and metrics will be important here, as you seek to squeeze as much performance and efficiency out of every component.
They may start with an Android phone from HTC, and then an iPhone from Apple, then they bought the kindle fire for reading and of course have an iPod touch or a bargain basement tablet that was put on firesale by the web vendor. They are going to want all these devices connected up as they were successful with the first one.
Oracle eBusiness Suite customers are taking various approaches to their application journeys, including: 1) staying the course with EBS on premises, 2) moving EBS to run on a cloud infrastructure and 3) running hybrid EBS with Oracle SaaS Fusion Applications. Oracle EBS continues to be strategic investment.

For Dr. Sara Stevano, an economist at the SOAS University of London, it was clear from the beginning of the pandemic that capitalism would exacerbate its impact. And of course, since the pandemic started, it has declined a couple of more years ,” he said.
